Today, we are going to introduce you to a new cafe, The Bold Lab.
The Bold Lab is one of the hipster cafes in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The cafe is located in Cherang, near Selera Che Siti or Dklasik cafe.
Although it is not certified by JAKIM, The Bold Lab is free from non-halal food such as pork and alcohol. Some of their staff are also Muslim. Even though the cafe does not have a halal certificate from JAKIM, the place is still a popular hangout spot for teenagers and families alike.
The cafe is comfortable with attractive decor. Upon entering, you are greeted by the invigorating aroma of coffee. The space is rather small and packed, especially during lunchtime. So, come early to avoid having to wait long for a seat.
The Bold Lab / TBL is a new lab-themed cafe/restaurant. Here, you can see several decorations that fit the theme. For example, flower pots made from flasks, spatulas for dipping chocolate, and mini beakers for caramel syrup.
The surroundings are beautiful and comfortable. This place also offers a great atmosphere for a dinner with your loved ones.
On one section of the cafe’s wall, there is captivating wall art themed around women.
In addition, the Charity Wall is full of paintings fully funded by local artists and photographers.

There is plenty of parking across the road. So, do not worry about not finding a parking spot.
A cafe’s atmosphere would not be complete without music. However, the music at The Bold Lab can be quite loud. So, it is less suitable as a place to work or hold discussions.
The place is also quite casual, with both indoor and outdoor tables. So you can choose your seat according to the atmosphere you prefer.
Among the regular menu items here are sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, fresh salads and pasta. But every day there is a special menu, especially desserts. They also have spaghetti that is only served after 12 noon.
One of the popular dishes here is the strawberry ice cream waffle! The waffle may look overcooked, but we can guarantee it is perfect! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, your mouth will surely water!
The strawberries are not sweet, which makes the overall combination with the ice cream a PERFECT dessert! A definite MUST-TRY!
Many food and drink options are available on their menu. Signature dishes such as the special Baked Cheesecake and Grilled Salmon are must-tries! With fresh, perfectly cooked fish skin and a pink-fleshed top finished with vegetables and sauce, you will regret it if you do not try it.
Their Grilled Salmon would surely be even tastier if they added more sauce, as it can be a bit dry. We also really love the Australian beef burger that they pair with an amazing sweet-and-sour salsa.
In conclusion, our experience here was very satisfying and the coffee was also high quality. The coffee was strong without a bitter taste. However, you can also make a request with the baristas so they can adjust the coffee to your taste.
